Subject: Re: chronically sick ferret

I have a couple of suggestions I'm trying with my newly adopted ferret.
Maybe you can run some of these ideas past your vet. Keep her on a
consistent high quality food like Totally Ferret. Feed her on her own and be
sure she's eating regularly. My guy ocassionally pretends to eat but is
really hiding his food. When he misses a meal he shakes and won't eat then I
have to hand feed him and coax him to eat his kibble. After that he peps up.
How long have you had your newbie? THey can sometimes get extremely
stressed in new situations. Might I suggest some regular one on one snuggle
time, and perhaps 1/4 teaspoon of peptobismol fed by dropper every 12 hours
for a week. ( Run this one past your vet) My Jasper is beginning to come
around but still has ocassional Shaking and not eating episodes. He also had
bouts with diahrhea but not the range your poor sweetie has gone through. A
single missed meal in a healthy ferret can be a problem but you will have to
really watch your little sweetie. I hope everything goes ok. Good luck!
Janie
