No, you're not alone. Getting a ferret to change to ANY new food can
be a struggle. You have to work at it. Try plain cooked meat first
and see if they will take that. (Don't feed them only meat - it
doesn't contain everything they need.) Or, try rolling raw meat in
powdered kibble, or soaking it in Ferretone, or something similar.
Basically, you want them to think it's something they already like.
Try feeding the livers and other parts, too. These are especially good
for them - better than the meat, even.
You can freeze the raw meat and take it out a piece at a time. Thaw it
before feeding, and don't leave it out for more than a handful of
hours. If they don't eat it, throw it out and try a fresh piece.
Ferrets fed this way are normally given scheduled meals, instead of
having food out all the time.
