Mike's suggestion is great - get a second opinion. It may cost a bit
to get a definite diagnosis, but it's worth it to answer all of the
questions you have right now.
I have to add, though - do NOT give him aspirin, Tylenol, or any other
human pain medications. These are at best dangerous and at worst
deadly for our little fuzzy friends.
Animals hide pain very well, so it's often difficult to tell if they
are hurting. If you watch him carefully, you might see some signs of
tenderness. If he refuses to lay on his belly, tries new sleeping
positions, or if he cries or nips when you try to pick him up, he may
be hurting. You know your little guy best - if he starts to behave
differently, you will be the first to see it. Be sure to mention any
and all unusual behavior to your vet.
Good luck with your little guy.
