When it looked like we might lose Pertwee we had him on a totally
unsustainable dosage of dexamethasone, which is stronger than pred. Our
vet wasn't concerned with long term consequences at that point. Pertwee
was doing poorly and my vet was afraid he would die. He seemed to be
uncomfortable and my vet wanted, at the least, to improve his quality of
life.
To make a long story short, Pertwee made an amazing recovery, and we
still aren't sure what was wrong with him the last time around. My
point, I guess, is that at right now you and Warp have very little to
lose. Improving her quality of life would outweigh the risks, IMHO, and
if her vet thinks that the pred will help I would go for it.
All the best,
