Subject: Re: Sick Ferret - Sudden

It could be caused by a number of things, an
intestinal upset of some kind or something else
entirely. Ferrets can go downhill pretty fast when
they won't eat or drink. When one of mine gets
diarrhea and won't eat, I feed them warmed stage 2
baby food chicken or turkey, off my fingers if needed.
It's easier on their tummies and adds fluid. Mine
never seem to want to eat much at one time when they
are sick, so I feed them frequently. If he usually
drinks water from a bottle, try putting a dish out for
him.

If he just had diarrhea once but still won't eat, I
would isolate him, where I can keep an eye on his
intake and output.

If the diarrhea isn't just a one time thing and the
ferret is feeling under the weather, I'll usually
contact my vet. Definitely if you feel the ferret is
getting dehydrated, I would take him to the vet or at
least give the vet a call.
