Subject: Re: Re: what are people feeding ferts around the world

I'm in England UK and my 5 ferrets (all spayed and neutered
after 6 months of age and none are de-scented ) aged between
4yrs and 11 months are all fed on Arden Grange kitten food
(far better than any of the ferret foods we have available
here - in my opinion ) They are all very healthy and the only
one that has had a health problem, was Lily my 11 month old,
who had her kidney removed, due to a blocked ureter.
Every week I boil fresh chicken backs for them and they have 3
- 4 meals each week from it.
They rarely have treats, but like watered down cat, or even
cows milk.
I know several people here in England with ferrets aged over
9yrs and I met a little jill last year who is now 12yrs old.
Lots of people here in the UK feed fresh rabbit and chicken to
their ferrets - and the kibble is more the suplement, rather
than the fresh meat.
Whether this has any relevence to life spans, I don't know,
but another consideration to take into account, is that the
majority of ferrets here in the UK - live outside in hutches
or sheds.
