Subject: Bene-Bac: Beneficial or not?

I came across a couple of sources on web that said beneficial
bacteria (bene-bac) is useless in ferrets because they lack a
cecum. Is this true? I also checked the archives here on the
opinions of bene-bac (be it the gel or otherwise) and I got some
that were really for it, and others that said it won't work in
ferrets. I'm confused...which is it?

If bene-bac won't work, what will to reistablish good flora in a
ferret's stomach to keep the bad bacteria in check? As I understood
it, after an antibiotic regimen, the bad bacteria can grow back
faster than the good bacteria. I want to prevent that by giving the
good bacteria a fighting chance.
