Subject: ferret diet

I feed my business 8/1 ultra ferret food..with raisin
juice, Pro-plan kitten, eukanuba kitten, Iams
kitten,Science diet kitten and every now and then I
throw in zupreem.
A couple times a week 5 of my 9 fuzzies snack on
pinkies and fuzzies they each eat about 3 to 4. The
local pet shop is being over run with mice litters
that she gives them to me at no charge. If raising
mice for food as their sole diet was not such a STINKY
endeavor I would feed that to them as their main food
source. 3 of the 9 are recovering from recent adrenal
sx's, but the rest have mink like fur.
4 of my males are 3+ pounds, my females run about 1.2
to 1.9 lbs. I have 8 marshall ferrets and 1 EX hob,
neutered at 2 years of age. he is in recovery from
adrenal sx. I have had a total of 3 marshall ferrets
come down with adrenal. 1 was a year at the onset of
the disease, the other 2 were about 2 years at the
onset, Ricky my ex stud started showing symptoms at
about 21/2 years. I waited 1 year or so before I
scheduled sx's. the results are fantastic. however , I
have had crappy odds..with 5 youngun's, 1 1/2 years
and under, I feel more adrenals are in my future..Is
there truly nothing I can do to head this off at the
pass..or am I doomed. Thank goodness I work at a vet
clinic..I pay only 125$ per surgery. Tell me
again..what kind of time frame do I have before the
right adrenal possibly will fail?
Stay fuzzy
