I'm not a vet, but, could the hairball cause an irritation in his
esophagus and stomach? What I would do, until you get professional
advice is mix the baby food, his old kibble and new kibble together.
Baby food is high in water content and his stools will continue to be
soft and runny until he gets some solid food in him. Also, you might
want to try Ferret-vite (high calorie paste) to help increase his
appetite and give him vitamins he needs. Not sure how others or Vets
handle hairball prevention, but I give 1/2 inch every other day and
during shedding season I give everyday.
