I've never heard of anyone having much success with those units, to
be honest. Perhaps your friend would be better off putting her
ferrets on a longish leash and harness and letting them wander around
the attic every day for an hour or so ... the scent of them should
scare the squirrels out of the attic, at least. Or maybe not, given
that US ferrets are descented ...
The office building I work in ahd a plague of mice last year. The
pest controllers laid poison in the cavity walls but we had mice
running around, jumping in and out of filing cabinets - hysterical!
My ferrets came to work with me every day for a week and we never saw
another mouse, although other suites in the same building had the
problem for a further 6 weeks.
