Subject: Juvenile Lymphoma
Hi. My name is Elizabeth, and this is my first time posting a
message. In May of 2001, my first ferret was diagnosed with
lymphoma. He was 2.5 years old. I started him on a holistic regime,
and he did really well for six months. He passed away last
December. I have two 1.5 year old ferrets that were his brothers.
In the past month, they were both diagnosed with lymphoma. I have
been devastated by this and I am wondering if there is a connection.
It seems odd that three ferrets from the same household have
lymphoma. I have started my two guys on the holistic regime, and
hopefully they will do as well as my first one. I am concerned,
however, because I also have a six month old baby ferret. I am
probably being paranoid, but I am worried that he is going to be
diagnosed with lymphoma when he gets a little older. I have read a
couple of articles that touch on the idea that the lymphoma is a
virus. My vet thinks it is genetics( they are from the same
breeder). I don't know what to think. I am posting this message in
the hopes that someone might have some answers as to why three
ferrets in the same household have been diagnosed with lymphoma
within one year. Thank you.
