Subject: Pred Belly

I now have several older ferrets that take pred daily, either
for Insulinoma or IBD, and all of them are rapidly developing
a huge belly. I don't mind plump ferrets, but with 2 of them,
they are having problems walking and maneuvering because of
their large girth. I know from my own experiences taking pred
for my asthma, that an expanded middle section can be a common
side effect of the pred.
Does anyone have any suggestions for reducing the effects? I
have considered limiting food intake, but it would be hard to
do without breaking up cage groups. I also don't know if
limiting the food availability for the kids with Insulinoma
would be wise.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
