I thought salmonella could only be killed off by thorough cooking?
Soft-boiled eggs are not advised for immuno-compromised humans, even
though they are a low risk, and food-handling surfaces which may be
salmonella-contaminated (raw poultry from any source always being
considered a high risk) should be cleaned with hot soapy water and
then a food-safe disinfection agent immediately after use.
I remember this from doing a food-handlers course a few years ago.
