Subject: Re: 3 Year Rabies Vaccine?????

but to date i do NOT believe Rabvac 3 has been rated for ferrets at
all.

I really don't think it's a matter of them not wanting to "invest"
in something. I would not go to a vet that I felt was trying to cut
corners to the detriment of my animals.

The vet tech I talked to this p.m. says Rabvac is rated for cats,
dogs, and ferrets. She went and got the package. All I have found
on the Internet addresses cats, dogs, and horses. The 2001
Compendium rates it for dogs and cats only. Horses may be there
too, but definitely not ferrets. The Compendium does show Imrab-3
for cats, dogs, and ferrets. It recommends cats and dogs be
vaccinated every 3 years, but ferrets every year. It also says that
anything approved since publication is valid.

Rabvac 3 is manufactured by Fort Dodge Animal Health (Wyeth), not
Merck. I did get that far.

If no one here in the know responds, my next step will be to ask for
a copy of the insert from the package.
