Subject: Constant groin licking?&how to use a glucose test on thick
skin

Hi,

We adopted grandpa about a year and a half ago. At the time he had an
adreanal tumor (which we knew about) and needed surgery which we got
him. Since we have had him he has always licked his groin to the
point it looked brused &/or scabbed. The vet we have has done all he
can (we have had antibiotics out the ying-yang but it hasnt done
anything for it). Since his surgery last year he has had Luperon (as
the vet was worried that the tumor was back and ultra sounds didnt
show anything). He had to have part of his tail removed due to a
tumor that developed at the end and now has insolinoma (sorry if it
isnt spelled right) which he is getting pred and devils club for. He
is still doing it now and after going into the vets every month or so
(which he doesnt charged us for except the meds)we are both stumped.

As for the blood question we have bought a glucose meter but as his
skin is so thick (vet even noted that it was thicker than normal for a
ferret) we have yet to be able to get a sample to be able to monitor
his insolinoma (the amounts are so small they dont register). Is
there any way for anyone to suggest how to get blood out him without
stressing him out excessivly?

Please let me know if you have any clues what so ever.

Thanks

Kat
