Lynn, can you give pills? When I have to use Flagyl, I find
it much easier to give as a pill. And, I do not mean crushing
it and mixing into some liquid, either. I just pry the mouth
open, and pop the pill way back in the throat. It is
important to get it far enough back that the ferret can't push
it forward with the tongue, though.
The Flagyl pills I get from my vet are fairly small to begin
with, and require cutting - usually I am giving 1/8 or 1/4 of
a pill, depending on the size and weight of the ferret.
We have never had any problems with the pills passing through
without being absorbed, either. They do not have a hard
shell, like some pills, and so apparently dissolve rapidly in
the stomach.
Anyway - just a thought.
