Subject: Right and Left Adrenal Surgery Done
Well... our vet did it! We have a successful case of a bad right adrenal
gland totally removed (not debulked) on a 4-5 year old female in our
city. I am so proud of him! (And I know he felt good about it too.) The
left one removed as well. Our little girl had the surgery on Wednesday,
and is doing very well. We have her on prediapred (which will be tapered
off gradually) for the time being, but she is eating and drinking on her
own. Call me an optimist but I have great hope that she will make a full
recovery without complication. (It won't stop me from doing a little
praying in the meantime.) I take her back in next week for her followup
exam. We will monitor her carefully over the next little while and will
report anything out of the ordinary.
Who knows were this little girl has taken us in our city... looks like
she has just lead the way for other ferrets in the same boat.
For those that have done the total removal of the right adrenal gland,
is there anything that I should know or do to aid in her recovery?
Anything that I should be made aware of for the future?
TIA
