Subject: RE: jill falsing

As a VERY occasional breeder, I can tell you that
false pregnancies are EXTREMELY common, and can even
occur without the jill being with a whole male. My Dio
has our whole household in an uproar right now because
half of them are her "babies" (regardless of age or
sex) and are getting dragged around by the scruff and
stuffed into various corners, and the other half are
NOT, and better not even LOOK at her babies. Too bad
if they were best buddies last week... Arrrghhhh...but
very, very funny... But noisy... And she was taken out
by my neutered male Basil!

Given that, there of course can be biological causes
for falsing- ovarian tumors, systemic illness,
infertility of the hob etc. But, if this is the first
time this has happened, and the jill is otherwise in
good health, it certainly in NOT unusual, especially
in animals that are pets as well as "breeders".
