Subject: Pediapred and Glucose levels
We have a 4 1/2 year old male albino. Two months ago he was diagnosed
with Insulinoma with a BG level of 48. Two weeks ago he went in for
surgery which was cancelled because his BG had dropped to 27. We
found a more ferret savy vet in the area to do the surgery. After an
initial exam and a precription of .6 cc pediapred twice daily, last
Wednesday, we took him back in Monday for full bloodwork and x-rays
to prepare for surgery. Today his results came back. His BG is up to
137, and something about 3 enzymes in the liver being very high.
My question...could that dose of pred bring the BG up that far? And
could the pred be throwing the liver results off?
