I am a vet TECH in Maryland (not a vet). However, the board certified vet dermatologist in Baltimore LOVES Frontline Topspot for ferrets. With their active oil glands (where Frontline goes after being applied), he feels that it works for many more months than the package
indicates (1 month for ticks and 3 months for fleas). However, keep in mind that it is an "off-label" use of the product, it is only labeled for dogs and cats. It is an alcohol-based product, so it tastes bad. The chemical is not toxic if they lick it but it will probably
make them salivate a lot because the alcohol tastes yucky. Just put it up high on his neck, close to his ears so he can't turn around and lick it. I don't know what the dermatologist thinks about Advantage. Good luck, neither of you should have to suffer with fleas.
