Subject: Thank you to the people on this list!

Hi, I want to thank everyone that responded to my Tazzie crisis with his sore bottom. Everyone has really good idea's. There were a couple of things that I hadn't heard of and am going to try starting today. Once again, thank you very much! To the ones who mailed me personally, a special thanks.
Now for the people who sent me flames...
I left out some details trying to keep my post short. I have not now or ever neglected my babies. I am one of the lucky few that get to stay home with my babies. My husband has been home for the past 5 years unable to work from a back injury and he is also here 24/7. If we have to go somewhere we bring in sitters.
Tazzie's hind legs are ram-rod stiff. We did the massage therapy and it kept them from getting stiff for over 8 months. Now when he potty's it stays in the hollow of his thighs. He does sleep on the puppy pads. They are a great item! Unfortunately, the idea with the mesh won't help in this case since his legs are the way they are but it is a super idea. It's definitely one I won't forget!
He has to drag himself with his hind legs straight out behind him. If we can tell where he's going we pick him up and take him. That has caused the raw area's on his feet. We doctor them and wrap them up. We have had 3 vets involved in this whole ordeal from the start. That to me makes me think maybe I wasn't so neglectful after all.
Lympho or insulinoma are horrid diseases. When you combine them they're worse than horrid, they're a BITCH. So until you battle these diseases for over a year you shouldn't decide I was just not doing my job or that I was negligent or my favorite, need to have my babies taken from me.
I have 2 vets in my area that call me when someone brings their ferret in to be put down because they stink, poop on the floor, or need medical attention and they won't or can't pay for it.
Once again that indicates to me that I just might be a good mom.
I would write to the flame throwers personally instead of on the list but there was just way to many of them. I couldn't believe it.
AS for you life saving, good non judgmental advise servers out there, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Still missing 7
and kissing my remaining 16
Lois

[Moderator's note: Okay, we have said this before: BE NICE TO EACH OTHER. Lois, if any of those were actual nasty flames rather than simple concerns that may just have been badly worded (which can happen), could you send those bad ones on to us moderators at <Ferret-Health-List-owner at yahoogroups.com>? There are not many rules here, but we are serious about the few we do have. The rule to be kibnd to each other is a DOUBLE RULE and it has to be taken seriously.

As someone who is currently nursing a little one with multiple serious diseases, and had had one with incontinence and loss of hind legs long-term from a spinal cord maligancy, etc. I can tell you that sometimes when it might seem to outsiders time to give up, the reality is that the ferret is still finding lots to enjoy in life and can be allowed to select his or her own time to give up. -- Sukie]
