In reading through this, I am reminded of something - I am not a vet OR
a lawyer, but I've been in enough legal situations....

Don't threaten or carry out non-payment. Do not dispute that charge!
Doing so will give the vet a legitimate complaint against you, puts you
in the wrong, and seriously weakens your case. If you find yourself
taking legal action of any sort, you must be squeaky clean and doing
everything by the book. It's too late to take back that threat, but
for your sake please don't do anything of the sort again. Be business-
like and detached. Anything else will reflect badly on you should
action be required.
