According to my vet, garlic can be a trigger for Auto Immune
Hemolytic Anemia in ferrets.
This does not mean that every ferret that eats garlic will develop
AIHA. AHIA is actually thought to be not very common in ferrets,
although it does occur. I don't think that all of the mechanisms of
AHIA are fully known. So, all it means is if a ferret with a
tendency toward developing AHIA eats garlic, there is a chance it
will develop it.
And, BTW, there are many other triggers besides garlic.
