Subject: Re: More on Tigger - eating habits??

At 7 pm, I gave Tigger her medication - the diazoxide (0.2) and the
prednisone (0.3). I think she actually inhaled the diazoxide, it was
gone the moment I gave it to her on her spoon.

I know she is still feeling pretty weak, and that her body is re-
adjusting to the 0.3 pred dose. But I have been hand feeding her the
normal food that she eats - our ferrets are on Iams dry cat food. I
make sure that Tigger eats 7-10 pieces every 4 hours if she has not
eaten on her own between 8 am - midnight.

She eats fine out of my hand and by placing food by her, but she
won't eat food out of her bowl. I thought about getting Marshall's at
the pet store, but I know that it is also not a good idea to change a
ferret's diet. Also, she will eat close to 1/2 a jar of baby food on
her own out of a spoon each pred dosage. Of course, when she was in
the doctor's office, she was showing off and eating like there was no
tomorrow.

Just need some advice to get her energy back up so she can eat on her
own food bowl.

[Quick note: if she was an MF kit she may find that food to be a "comfort food" and take it readily. If not, then the food she had as a kit may work as a comfort food. We've broken fasts by introducing the food the ferret had as a kit. -- Sukie]
