Subject: Lupron in older ferrets

I was really surprised to hear Sukie's and Kym's comments on Lupron not
being very effective in older ferrets. I hadn't heard that before, but have
been wondering. I have had 3 ferrets over the age of 8 who have or had been
receiving Lupron and none of them ever regrew any hair. I have one now who
is about as bald as can be. She has had 3 (4month, 2mg doses) in the past
year, I kept hoping it would help. I have thought that it has helped with
the itchiness and red patches on her skin so I have continued to use it.
What I am wondering, is it just a waste of money at this point, what do all
of you do when your older ferrets don't regrow hair and can't have surgery,
do you still give the Lupron in hopes that it is doing some good internally?

Thanks in advance,
Julie
