Subject: Re: Adding another ferret

Muddy was OK with her at the shelter because it was neutral
territory, or at least not his territory. Now she's in his home and
he needs to assert his dominance. A little battling is not abnormal.

A rule of thumb I use to determine whether or not to step in is this:
If the little girl is not trying to get away from Muddy and keeps
coming back for more, leave 'em alone. And if poop is not flying, or
blood is not being drawn, perhaps it just sounds and looks worse than
it actually is.

Sometimes, bathing them both will alleviate the fighting, at least
for a little while. You might also want to swap their bedding so
they become accustomed to each others odor.
