Subject: [Ferret-Health-list] Dental Question

> how often do you have thier
> teeth cleaned?

Well, Luffe had his teeth cleaned a week ago, it was his first
time ever and he's 6 years old. His teeth weren't looking too
good because he had been living of Marshall (and only
Marshall) until he moved in with me about 1/2 a year ago.
Usually when I have my guys in for their shots and yearly
check up, I just hold them by the scruff and my vet scrapes
off what build up there might be - this saves them from the
anesthesia, and afterwards my vet gives them lotsa Furo-Tone.
(This trick is only possible if your vet doesn't mind a nip
once in a while...)

I'd advice you to have something like Hill's Oral Care or
Hill's T/D in your mix of food, because it helps to scrape of
tartar and prevent build ups.
