Subject: what are people feeding their ferrets

We have been trying to get ferret foods into the country(UK
and Europe) for the past 2 years but we keep hitting obstacles
such as shipping, Customs and Excise, and min.values that
companies want. We recently spoke to Totally Ferret and we
hope to be something on that in the near future. When we
started there was just 2 foods but now we,ve got Vitacraft,
James Wellbeloved, Ferretworld(TPP), Frankie Ferret, Chudleys,
Comp.Choice and Marshalls. There are a couple on the way from
other British Manufacturers. Qualities vary amongst ferret
food and there are some very good catfoods but your ferret
AIN'T a cat. If it was that easy, why don't we feed cat food
to dogs or dog food to cats. I know my cats won't eat our dogs
biscuits and if they eat the ferret food(which they do with
relish) it gives them the runs.Cat food gives the dog wind,
and don't you know it! I'm sure that 100% of the manufacturers
employ veterinarians to assist with pet food manufacture and I
know that if the pet food that they were making was unsuitable
for the animal named they would soon have a law suit. Sorry to
go on about the correct food but here in the UK we have them
feeding ferrets tinned cat or dog foods(6% protein if you're
lucky), raw liver, dried dog biscuits and, even now, bread and
milk! We are getting there but this side of the ferret market
has only taken off in the past few years and manufacturers are
the slowest people in the world to try something new. We know,
that's why we started.
All the best, Simon at Ferretworld.co.uk
