I think most of us realise that cats and ferrets are not related. I
eat salads like my rabbit does and often share lamb steaks with ny
dog. I am related to neither of them, yet sharing certain foods is
perfectly acceptable and nutritious.

Maybe where you are they are easily available. Not in New Zealand or
Australia. I've never even seen most of the brands you mention. I
have seen Hagens twice and Kaytee once. When an occasional packet
appears in a pet shop, it looks as if it's sat in a ship's hold for
about six months, customs for another six and then the shop for a
further six months, and was originally exported with only about six
weeks of shelf life remaining.
And before you say that I can get ferret food by mail order ... not
in New Zealand.
However, Iams, Royal Canin and other quality kitten foods are readily
available as is good meat. Kitten food and meat it has to be.
