From what I have seen, and others more experienced may feel
differently, a normally passive and peaceful ferret often turns into a
different beast under the covers. I'm guessing that their instincts
for hunting things in burrows turns on when under the covers, and toes
suddenly look like good prey to them.

Even our nicest ferrets are little terrors in bed. So, we don't let
them up there unless we're awake and supervising!
