Keldah,

There is certainly no need for alarm. Galaxy-D has been used in
ferrets for years, but isn't labelled for ferrets. There hasn't been
such a vaccine until recently. Fervac just recently came out, and is
the first canine distemper vacc labelled specifically for ferrets.
Either one will work just as well in preventing distemper. The
differentiator is the rate of (potentially fatal) reactions to the
vaccine. According to the vets here, Fervac has a lower rate of
reaction than Galaxy-D, but isn't completely free of reactions. It's
pretty new, though, so no one really has experience with its use over
multiple years yet.

To make a long story short - either one will do the job, but Fervac is
probably your best bet.

There is apparently a Fervac rabies vaccine out now as well. But here
in Florida at least, vets are required by law to use only IMRAB-3 for
now. I don't know the laws in other states.

I am not a vet.
