To date I have read of only one ferret who is badly allergic to pine, and we
have never had any problems with it here. The one ferret who is allergic had
a a terrible response, though, and the store continued to kep him in pine so
he wound up with lung damage. I am sure that there must be others but it
doesn't seem to be common at all.

You'll note in Jeff Johnston's article that cedar is a very serious concern for all,
but pine is more of an individual thing.

Right now we are having new info come in but repeats of info have been
asked to be avoided. It's been marvelous how careful people are being on
that score.
