Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Weight Loss in 2 Ferrets

Hi Caity,

Im sorry about that&Freak is 4 and Spike is 2 ½. Spike
weighed 4.1 lbs. about four months ago and weighed in today at
1.8 lbs. Freak lost about maybe ½ to ¾ of a pound. Their
sides do look a little sunken in, but more on Spike because he
was a larger ferret. I can feel their bones more than usual
(spine and hips).

We have put them on Ferretvite from the local petstore. This
is to stimulate appetite and weight gain. Whether this was a
good decision or not, Im not sure. Again, any opinions would
be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your reply,
Brenda

You also didn't say how old Freak and Spike are.
You also didn't say what they weighed before and what they
weigh now, so
we have no way of knowing if the weight loss is excessive. Do
they seem
really thin now? Do their sides look sunken in?
