Subject: Re: Oily skin?

Hello Ron,
Ferrets that are adrenal do tend to have 'oily
skin', sometimes! Remember the sex hormones are
involved and this secretion would be an attraction for
the opposite sex! Sometimes the smell is pretty
pungent! Also there can be a rancid smell which seems
to be quite strong, when the cancer is malignant!
When we lived in Africa, the 'local perfume' was
much like the smell of ferrets in heat, when the bus
went by, it left a trail of 'ode d'homme'! The local
Africans thought 'natural sweat' to be an attractant
to the opposite sex, we on the other hand stifle(with
deodorant)the natural order of things!
Years ago when I used to breed ferrets, my family
and friends used to point out, "you smell just like
your ferrets"!!! For those who have never had breeding
ferrets, that odor could not be imagined, since
neutering and spaying removes it!---Angela.
