Hi Randy - I am not a vet, but I did a quick search through the FHL
archives, and came up with several hits on Clostridium.
Some of the messages that discuss it include #s 6381, 8201, 8205,
8265, and 8267.
Basically, though, they seem to indicate that flagyl is the
antibiotic of choice for treatment of this bacteria.
Have you tried just giving him pills. I have never been able to get
liquid flagyl into a ferret, but have good luck with pills. I do not
try to break them up and hide them in food, either - I just pry the
mouth open, and pop the pill way in the back of the throat, and close
the mouth and massage the throat til they swallow. I immediately
follow with a liquid treat like ferretone or baby food thinned with
water, which I give with a dropper. If you can get the pill way at
the back, they will usually swallow it without tasting it.
