Here at Ferret Wise we apply a topical lotion / gel / cream which
is a protective layer - restores moisture and promotes healing.
Though it is meant for humans there are no steroids and no harmful
ingredients to harm the ferret if it were to lick it. This
application is purchased in human health food stores it is called
Calendula lotion, calendula gel or calendula cream. We opt for the
non alchoholic preparations and they are made by a number of
reputable companies. Calendula is a flower and this is a gentle and
refreshing application which does allow the skin to heal. Why not
give it a try? We have had adrenal ferrets with dry red , cracked &
bleeding "hot spots" who had smooth headed skin in 2-3 days time.
It certainly will not hurt and most likely will help the problem.

Sending good wishes-
