I recently tried slippery elm with one of my ferrets with IBD. He
was getting Imuran, but was starting to have problems again, and so I
tried adding Slippery elm into the mix before increasing any
medications. I gave him his Imuran first, and then gave the slippery
elm 2 hours later, so that the medicine would be absorbed first.
The results were disasterous!
After a few days, I discontinued the slippery elm and after
consulting with my vet, added a small dose of pred. That solved the
problem.
