Ah - there's the important clue. This guy is in season, and one of
the big things they do while in season is to mark territory. They
don't seem to be as interested in marking as cats are once neutered,
so you should have reasonable success with that, especially since
he's using his box while in the cage. And he'll smell better pretty
quickly - about two to three weeks after the neutering.
