My seven month old male ferret is doing the same thing. He has a stuffed
toy that he chose out of many to baby like this. It is his baby and if any
of the other two ferrets go near it, he attacks that ferret and once again
rolls it over and drags it by it's scruff. It is homed in my dresser and
so I just have to leave it there. He is very much a motherly male ferret.
He is always bossing around his partner in mischief, Lucy. One day she had
snuck into the dishwasher, but not the normal way. She had found a hole
underneath the door of it, which we have since blocked up, but everytime
Lucy goes in the kitchen anywhere near that dishwasher, Jasper goes to her
and scruffs her and pulls her away from it. So, mommy behavior is also
present in males. He is a fixed male, so fatherhood is not a factor or
option in this situation. I just find it interesting as to how protective
and parenting they can be.
Have a great day everyone and remember to keep those ferrets cooled down.
Tina and the fuzzy trio.
