Subject: Another Chocolate Moose update

Hi, again.

Regarding Chocolate Moose's liver enzymes: No, they weren't anywhere
near 1,000. His SGPT was 430, compared with, according to Lab X, a
normal range of 10-280. I tend to agree, based on everything I've
read about ferret diseases by knowledgeable vets here that a liver
infection is less likely than an intestinal problem. This particular
vet seems to get a little defensive lately about me giving him
information from the Internet, which makes me wonder if I should
start looking for another vet (sigh). As far as the yeast, I guess
I'm not surprised to hear that's normal, but it was a minor point.
I'm more than happy to forego giving Moose Nystatin and just focusing
on the other meds -- that'll reduce stress.

Actually, Moose took his metronidazole quite well this morning. He
ate some chicken baby food and then had the best-looking stool he's
had in a long while. It was a little slimy but well formed, which
suggests to me that the Kaopectate (children's cherry-flavored
variety) may be helping already. Of course, he also didn't want to
get up, which had me worried. He is sleeping a lot. I hand-fed him 10
cc's of water flavored with Ferretone after giving him his meds
because he isn't drinking much water and he's slightly dehydrated. I
guess I'll have to keep hand-feeding him water for a while.
