I went digging... Do you mean Torbutrol? That actually is trade name
for butorphanol tartrate. (In addition, buprenorphine also goes by the
name Buprenex.) I agree with you - at least in my cats it's HIGHLY
effective. In small doses it makes them very happy without knocking
them out.
Is it a small pink tablet with an "F D" stamped in it? That's the
butorphanol I'm using. A different manufacturer or strength will come
in a different tablet of course.
This one is a 5mg tablet. According to Dr. Purcell's formulary, you
can give 0.05 - 0.5 mg/kg. For an average 2 to 2.5 lb ferret, that's
anywhere from 1/25 to almost 1/2 of a tablet. Warp's 1/16 seems like a
minimal dose. You're right - that's not hard to cut up at all.
