Subject: Re: Foods with Meds

The prescription for Keiko's pred just said "take with food". I
assumed feeding her right before or after would be ok. She didn't
take it willingly (had to be scruffed and she became very combative -
actually "punching" the syringe from my hand and scratching me up
quite a bit). BTW, I haven't tasted the pred I have but it smells
strongly of raspberry(?). Anyway, immediately after Keiko would gag
and paw at her throat, refuse to eat, even throw up occasionally. I
was giving the pred to avoid those symptoms! I started mixing the
pred into chicken baby food and she ate it with no problems. Since
then I haven't seen any signs of hypoglycemia AT ALL. The pred must
have been bothering her stomach big time - no wonder she fought it so
much!
