Subject: Infected scent gland

It can be adrenal, I had a female go in for a removal
of a skin tumor, that fur started to grow back and
almost all of her fur fell out at her rump area, she was
adrenal. Not sure if the stress of the surgery spead up
the hair loss, or if it was coincidental, plus was shed
season, so expected to see excellerated fur loss-
But most of my adrenals had a lot more fur loss seasonally,
and would even grow back some next season, just to
lose more the following- meaning there were actually
bald patches visible. I would definitely watch him
and see if this progresses, also look for other signs,
like problem urinating, marking behavior, mating behavior,
agressiveness-etc.

Other thought, in the one ferret I had with the infected scent
gland it was because of an incomplete descenting and
had to have surgery to fix the problem, not just the needle
aspiration- but if your ferret is not descented this may not
be the same problem.
