Subject: Need strength to make the appointment!
I folks. I've posted several times about my 7 yo MF Moose who has
had constant diarrhea and has basically been untreatable and
undiagnosable. Months ago he stopped eating on his own. I then
finally found that he would eat junkfood on his own. So he get's
duck soup fed through a syringe to meet his caloric and nutritional
requirements (comes out to about 1/4 cup + of Totally ferret, 2
Tablespoons of Heavy Cream, a bit of yogurt and some ferrettone each
day) so that's more than enough. Plus he eats a little of his
special mix of dry (purina cat chow, Science Diet Sensitive Stomach
formula, and ProPlan Turkey and Barley...these are the only dry
foods he will eat). The tooth grinding has decreased significantly
and the psyllium has helped the diarrhea as well.
However, despite all he eats he's growing thinner and weaker,
sometimes he just falls over. Yes, I have tested and treated for
everything under the sun using one of the top ferret vets in New
England. I've been hearing "put him to sleep" for months now from
non-animal type friends. I've been trying to draw a "quality of
life" line to gauge when it was time for Moose to be helped to cross
the bridge. That line would be the day he stopped coming for
treats.
He still runs for treats, but then collapses at my feet...my poor,
poor old man ... I can't believe he's still hanging in there, but I
think it's time. I'm just delaying the phone call....
Keep my Moosie Goosie in your thoughts as he prepares to meeting his
long time buddy Buster on the bridge.
Sad dooks!
Amy
Why can't these guys just last forever?
