Subject: Ferret Still Not Eating/ LONG POST

I just found this group. I have also sent this email directly to Dr.
Willimas previously to finding this group, but it turns out it may not
get to him, as I seem to have an old email addy.

Well here goes:

My name is Dorie and I have 2 ferrets one female 5 years old, and
one male approximately 3 years old.

Recently I've noticed the male is not eating much at all and has lost
considerable weight. I took him to the vet, they did an xray, which
showed a possible slightly enlarged heart, although she did not think
that was causing his problem right now. They also did a blood test
which showed his lymphocytes to be approx. 4500. A fecal test showed
bacteria
in his feces. The vet also said he is very gassy, and is grinding his
teeth.

The doctor is not sure what is causing his problems, she put him on
Clavamox, 0.2cc twice a day. And also on Metronidazole, 0.2cc also
twice a day.

It has been two weeks of this treatment, and the male does not want to
eat on his own. I am also using your duck soup mixture to feed him now.

I read about the bacterial infection ferrets can catch, on Dr. Williams
web
site. I added Pepto Bismol to his medicines. He does not seem to be
eating at all. I do not know what else to do at this point. Should I be
seeing any results at all? Should he be eating on his own by now? I am
very worried.

I'd really appreciate any of your help or advice as I am at a loss as
what to do at this point in time.

Thank you very much.

Dorie
