Let me start by saying that I am not a vet. However, I have had
experience with breeding ferrets, and having whole ferrets around.
What you describe sounds like your baby is starting to mature, and
may be starting to come into season. It also sounds like she has
developed an infection, perhaps from getting some foreign materal
trapped in the vaginal canal.
As to whether or not it is serious, only a vet can determine that.
It may be localized, which would not be serious, or it could be a
uterine infection, which could be very serious.
Since you plan on having her spayed anyway, it might be best to just
do it now. I would recommend having her checked by your vet as soon
as possible, though. In the meantime, try to keep the area clean and
free from debris.
Hope this helps.
