Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Onion Powder Gerber's
I don't see onion being mentioned in the ingredients of the
Gerber's 2nd stage veal , chicken or lamb that I have,
could it be a very minute amount being used? If that
is the case the amount would be insignificant. I would
not worry about it.

I am currently feeding all my shelter ferrets a "duck soup"
mixture if ground kibble. Hills AD, and Gerber's chicken
with gravy baby food. Several of them have been on it for
years as I can't get them to go back to dry kibble.
A vet, I recently talked with, indicated that Gerber's
uses onion powder which has been harmful to cats and that I
should use a different brand.
When I first began using "duck soup" I searched several
different sources and Gerber's was suggested on several of
them. Can anyone tell me if there is onion powder in
Gerber's and if so is it potentially harmful long term. If
so, which other brand is safer to use.
Thanks for any information.
