That sounds like Juvenile Lymphoma. It has happened to ferrets
from a wide range of sources: MF, PV (in our Helix), private
breeders, etc.

If your ferret was an MF you actually can contact them and pass
along a letter from your vet and your ID things form the papers
the pet store gave you, and they will help you get a new ferret
when you feel that you are ready to do so.

Juvenile Lymphoma is probably the most painful thing for the
humans of the disease that Steve and i have encountered in
ferrets because it usually hits the young and does so very
rapidly. I am sorry that you have gone through this.

If it helps at all, we've had ferrets in the family for 19 and 1/2
years but only one of our's had this, so if our experience is
representative you likely will never encounter it again
