Subject: IBS and IBD

From what I understand, the difference between irritable bowel
syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease is inflammation of the
intestine or intestinal wall. Irritable bowel syndrome does not have
inflammatory effects.

As for IBD and its treatment, I have posted several times regarding
my experiences with IBD. Two of my ferrets have been diagnosed.
Both are now in remission. One required both pediapred and Imuran
and the other only required pediapred. The one requiring Imuran did
experience side effects from the drug after several months of use,
but the side effects disappeared once she was weaned off. Both are
now doing very well and behaving the way ferrets should!
