Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Re: Vicky treatment

I agree with you 100% - keep Vicky for a while until she recovers! It
sounds like Vicky may have simply gotten a stress ulcer from living
with her owner! I would seriously consider trying - tactfully, of
course - to find out what her owner is doing wrong. Is she not letting
them out to play, keeping them in a tiny cage, not feeding them enough
or the right food, not giving them enough water? Do Vicky and Tricky
get along well? Do they have enough toys, and get new toys regularly?
This could be stress from boredom as well.

Ferrets can easily go overnight or even a day or two without food, but
witholding her food at night "so she can rest" is just silly. She will
eat to her comfort level, so there's no harm in leaving food out
constantly. I also agree with you on this - her system is compromised
right now and is working overtime to restore her blood cells. Constant
access to food can't do anything but help.

Keep us updated - recovery stories are nice, not to mention refreshing!
